MY FAVORITE HOMES OF THE WEEK... AUGUST 22, 2025

Hello Everyone,


I just want you to appreciate how far I will go to get this blog out to you! I was sitting in my nice air-conditioned office and I thought….”I should just stay in and catch up on paperwork”. But no I went out in that heat and saw houses for you people…..even a few that had no air conditioning!! Luckily there were a few nice ones that made it worth my while!



1862 Pepper Dr. Altadena

Don’t judge a book by its cover! I know that from the front this house doesn’t look that impressive, but it is actually a very grand home on the inside! The living room spans the front of the home and they did a wonderful job with the addition. They intentionally created an extraordinarily wide hallway which makes the transition through the different spaces of the home very elegant. It has been thoughtfully remodeled throughout and even though the upgrades are not the latest and greatest, they are very tasteful. The backyard is a wonderful space with lush landscaping surrounding that sparkling pool which was very alluring in this heat!

This one on Sunnyslope was a pleasant surprise! It is a traditional style home which is very typical for the Daisy Villa area, but this one had a lot more character than most. I love the windows….yes they are newer but the owners were very conscientious with the style and material they chose in order to maintain the period charm of the home. The brick fireplace is the highlight of the living room for sure! The home has been stylishly remodeled throughout…..though I would remodel the kitchen and open it up to the dining space….it feels a little claustrophobic right now. There are actually 2 primary suites! One in the front and then one in the back. I really like the one in the back with those original doors that flow out to the backyard….which is also a lovely serene space!

Jackson is the premiere street in Orange Heights featuring the largest homes in the neighborhood. This one is not quite that large, but it looks like it from the front which is great for add-on potential. What’s not great for add-on potential is the pool right behind the house! It has great bones, but it is definitely a fixer and if you want to add-on, you will probably have to fill in that pool. Of course, this is all doable. I'm just thinking that the price is a bit high considering everything that needs to be done. Still it is definitely worth seeing and hovering over to see if you can get a better price.

I sold this house ages ago and my seller at the time still misses living here! This was the house where I learned about the history of Eldora. This street was the subject of an architectural competition and that is why you see so many unique homes on this block! This little Spanish not only has a beautiful fireplace in the living room, but it also has a mini Batchelder fireplace in the formal entry! It is a very spacious 2 bedroom home and at some point someone added a bathroom to the back bedroom so that you have a primary suite! I also love the sun room in the front! The upgrades are older now and the landscaping looks a little sad, but still a very nice character home with great bones at an attractive price!

This one just came on the market and seems very well priced for what it seems to offer! This home is in a great location on the far east end of Monrovia on the border of Bradbury. Now if the posted square footage of 1395 sq.ft does not include that enclosed patio/den, then it is really a great deal. But with only 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom…..I’m guessing they are including that space in the square footage. Only one way to find out! Go and see it!

So I ran out of time and didn’t see this one, but that is a lot of house for the money! Now it looks like there are some sloping ceilings in the back rooms which indicates that it has been added onto poorly….but you have to see it in person to really see what’s going on. Either way…for that price and that location….it is certainly worth going out of your way to take a peek!

This week there were two homes on Sunnyslope within a block of each other. Now this one is the one that is extremely well-priced! It is a cute traditional style home that has been well maintained and upgraded! The only thing I don’t like is that the backyard is mostly pool, but for this price I can look the other way… besides you can always fill in a pool!
